For a child to be able to read, he must be exposed to books as much as possible. In fact, a child who reads easily is the one who is frequently read to. So what do we do dear parents? Take them to the library and read to them once a week? Honestly, is that good enough?
3 things to do to make sure your kids are well read even before they reach primary school:
- Schedule a reading time together as a family as one of your daily activity. Go on. Place a mat on the floor and take turns to read each other a book. The bigger it is, the better!
- Read each other bedtime stories. It is ok that your child is just making it up as he turns the pages of the book.
- The “snuggle” factor. Click here for more information.
